Inspection Standards & Data for Vouchers (ISDV) Division
The Inspection Standards & Data for Vouchers (ISDV) Division’s mission is to ensure that federally-assisted families reside in housing that is decent, safe, and sanitary. The ISDV Division collects and analyzes inspection data and provides consultation services on housing quality best practices. ISDV implements the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) for assessing physical conditions of Voucher-Assisted Housing which is an enhanced inspection standard for HUD’s HCV (Housing Choice Voucher) units. The new NSPIRE standards aim to:
- Maintain a culture of transparency and collaboration with PHAs and other key stakeholders
- Prioritize health, safety, and functional defects
- Develop innovative ways to further streamline inspection processes for inspectors that are accurate, consistent, and objective
- Enhance owners’ and tenants’ access to detailed information about their home
