In 2019, the Trustees of Boston University was awarded Lead Technical Studies funding to evaluate the effects of take-home lead contamination on children’s blood lead levels in homes of low-wage construction workers living with a child. The researchers evaluated interventions to reduce take-home contamination and the effectiveness in reducing metals in household dust and residents’ blood. As a result of the study, the grantee created outreach materials to communicate the risks of take-home lead to workers and their families, as well as provide strategies for intervention. |
