HUD STATEMENT ON THE 28th ANNIVERSARY OF THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING

WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued the following statement to honor and remember the tragic loss of lives in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 19, 1995.

“Twenty-eight years removed, the pain and scars of the bombing in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, have never left us. Today, we take time to pause and remember 168 lives that were taken, including 35 fellow employees of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. As we reflect on the loss Oklahomans and the American people endured that horrific day, we honor the heroic actions that arose from first responders and community members.

“On this day of commemoration, we remember and honor those lost and offer a special prayer for their families. May we continue to honor their memory through our work here today, and let us never forget their contributions to HUD, the people we serve, and to our great nation.”
